Contracting owner Gordon Merritt started his company 14 years ago, and his
success has been guided by one main principle: Never Compromise on
Quality or Service.
With a
background in marketing and advertising, Gordon always has his eye on log
homes. After building his own, he decided to leave the advertising business
and enter into the world of log homes. He began selling log homes to get a better understanding of the
craft, while keeping a foot in the business world.
Heavily
influencing his decision to take the plunge
into this business were his roots, which included
growing up with his father, an architect who designed churches and municipal
buildings. His father's influence, combined with his love
of log homes and a desire to leave more of a tangible mark on the world ultimately persuaded him pursue
log home building. Merritt Contracting was formed to be the
construction company.
One thing he noticed about log home
building is the confusion of all the choices, wood, styles, etc... This is
why Algonquin Log Homes was formed. Merritt realized that people needed help
through each step of the process from the first question; "Is a log home
the right choice for me?" to "What type of styles are available to
choose from?"
